Maneuvering Flea and Tick Season naturally

Updated: Sep 20

5 Ways to help with flea and ticks season without harmful chemicals on your pet

My dogs are my babies, their health and well being is my main concern when spring and summer roll around. I live on 42 acres, mainly bush, with a whole lot of long grass and cedar trees. This type of environment brings a lot of mosquitoes and ticks, yet my dogs have never had any of these parasites. I use everything natural, I don't have to worry about any of my products damaging my dogs internal organs.

After doing quite a bit of research, I have decided to use natural products for my pets to help combat flea and ticks. To protect them best, layering with more than one product seems to help.

Quality of the oils I use

All essential oils are not created equal, just because a big box store, bulk store or even an online store sells it, doesn't mean it is certified and healthy to use. I only use one type of oils and that is DoTerra. I have taken certification courses and thoroughly done the research for the sake of what I use on my own family and my pets. I know with absolute confidence that the quality of what I am using - they are 3rd party tested - is top of the line, and are also recommended by many holistic veterinarians.

“I was very skeptical of Essential Oils and did not think they could help me at all. But, like so many people that find hope in essential oils, I was desperate. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired all the time and taking time off work to go to the doctor 2-3 times a month was taking its toll on my life. So I tried an essential oil and within 15 minutes I was feeling better… 6 months later I was using them in my practice and educating others and 2 years later I started “doing the business” and it has changed my world, enhanced my quality of life, and now I’m starting to see my dreams realized. That hope I was looking for… I found it… and now you can have that hope too!” Dr. Janet Roarke

Essential Oil Spray

I make a proprietary blend spray for my pets and family. This flea and tick spray can be used both for humans and pets. When your dogs go out, spray on their underbelly, massage into their coat and ears. You may apply each time they go out, it is safe to use throughout your day. For the oils to purchase for the recipe, please visit my DoTerra link HERE. And for the other elements of the recipe to combine with the oils as directed, please find those products HERE.

Essential Oil collar or bandanna

For added protection, when making your spray, you may also soak a bandanna and put it around your dogs neck. This is layering to further help protect against pests on your beloved family member.

In closing, remember, natural is healthier. Do your research before putting harmful chemicals or pesticides on your pets. There are many warnings against flea and tick preventatives.
